Come to think about it, I like the original better, too. Just looks greater! Maybe because it seems not quite as focused here... or maybe because the bigger photo puts the drop into a context... it looks more like suspended a little way above the surface there. Or maybe it's just: The water on top is an imperfection, but makes the perfection of the marble stand out even more in contrast!

I prefer this one (because the water on the top of the other one was distracting) but I also prefered the zoom/focus on the original, this version is a little too blown up. Regardless they're both good shots :)

I hope to be taking some water shots soon got any tips on timings ? or should I just be prepared for a lot of trail and error.

Just shoot! I hope you have a digital camera! So you should shoot a lot of pics and a few will be very good! Low ISO! If you have any question or problems with it feel free to ask!

Das Original ist ein wenig schärfer ;)
Aber auch ansonsten stört es mich wenig, ob da nun Wasser noch zu sehen ist oder nicht - Fand das Ausgangsbild schon überwältigend, dort sind die Wasserkannten eine nette Abrundung für das hohe Format, hier stört es das Fehlen allerdings auch nicht, da es im Querformat nicht so gut wirken würde =]
