Infos:
That's the Liebfrauenkirche in the town I live and work. It is the only 4 tower basilica of the romanticism in middle Germany. Bishop Arnulf found the Collegiate church in 1005. In 1146 and 1147 the church was reconstruct by bishop Rudolf. Many things were changed in every centery that was coming.

While the Seven Years' War the church was used as a prison, weapons stockpile and a horse stall from the troops of Napoleon. They destroyed a lot. For example they chip the noses of a lot of the religious figures for fun.

1840 until 1848 Ferdinand von Quast restore the church on behalf of Friedrich Wilhelm IV. Unfortunaltely they did a bad job and destroyed almost all of the frescos. But they made Strichpausen (sorry coudn't find a translation for this) od them and these are now in the Kunstgewerbemuseum of Berlin.

While the bomb raid on the 8th of april 1045 almost all of Halberstadt has been destroyed.

1946-1952 with the help of the architect Walter Bolze the church was rebuilt.

Important inventar:
Frescos
Chorschranken (again no translation found) from 1200 with the worlds only Stucco figuren of the 12 apostle, Maria and Christus. The are almost life size.
Triumph cross (13th century)
gothis bronze glower (1475) with Mary engravings

Bells:
four bells have survived until now. They are from the 13th and 14th century. The other 3 bells were destroyed in the 1930th and 1940th.
